Personal Information

Dr. Yang Tang is now a Professor at Department of Automation, and the Key Laboratory of Advanced Control and Optimization for Chemical Processes, Ministry of Education, East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai, China. He was a Research Associate with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, from 2008 to 2010. From 2011 to 2015, he conducted his postdoctoral research with the Humboldt University of Berlin, Berlin, Germany, and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, Potsdam, Germany. Since 2015, he has been a Professor with the East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai, China. He has published over 60 refereed papers in international journals such as Nature Communications, Automatica, IEEE Transactions, SIAM Journals and APS journals. His current research interests include multi-agent systems/complex networks, cyber-physical systems, hybrid dynamical systems, artificial intelligence, and their applications. He has published one survey paper in IFAC Journal-Annual Reviews in Control. Dr. Tang was a recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship in 2011 and he got the 1000 Plan Professorship for Young Talents. He is an Associate Editor (Editorial Board Member) of Scientific Reports, the Journal of the Franklin Institute, Neurocomputing, International Journal of Control, Automation, and Systems and a Leading Guest Editor of the Journal of the Franklin Institute. He is now a member of IEEE, a Vice Director and Secretary-General of Intelligent Control and System Committee in China command and Control Society, a technical committee of Complex Systems and Complex Networks (CSIAM, China) and a member of Young Working Committee in Chinese Association of Automation.

Research Interests

  • Dynamical systems: multi-agent systems, cyber-physical systems, robotic systems (robotics, manipulators and quadrotors), complex networks, power grids, networked control systems, hybrid dynamical systems (impulsive systems, switched systems and sampled-data systems)

  • Evolutionary computation: swarm-intelligence, many/multi-objective optimization, constraint optimization, differential evolution and their applications

  • Machine learning: big data analysis and deep learning
